But the aircraft has been brought back home, and under it's new guise is doing a roaring trade.
Restaurant manager Indira Shiyam told the BBC: "Attendance is very impressive.
At first, people wanted to have a feel of a restaurant in a plane but surprisingly they keep coming."
Many locals get their first taste of what it's like to travel on an aeroplane, with several never having flown before.
The tail fin is painted in the Ghanaian flag, and is known as the Green Plane locally.
