The
Super Eagles’ task to qualify for the next round of the ongoing African
Nations Championship (CHAN2014), has become a bit harder, as at least
three players are doubtful for appearance in Sunday’s decider VS hosts,
South Africa.
Benjamin Francis and Paul Ikenna missed
Nigeria’s 4-2 scrappy victory over Mozambique, as the duo had suffered with injuries.
Despite
best efforts from the team doctors, the players may not be in proper
shape for the final Group A game. Francis is battling with a knee
injury, while Ikenna pulled a hamstring.
The
third man who might also miss the decisive match is Ugonna Uzochukwu.
The Enugu Rangers midfielder picked up an ankle injury against
Mozambique.
Coach
Stephen Keshi considers Bright Eseme, Shehu Abdullahi and Umar Zango,
as possible replacements in case the injured players are not available.
It would be noted that the two final parallel matches of the group stage kick off on January 19, 2014, Sunday, at 18:00 (Nigeria time): Nigeria vs South Africa, Mozambique vs Mali. </>
