Oprah Winfrey: 'If I Had Kids, My Kids Would Hate Me'

Oprah Winfrey
Oprah Winfrey doesn't regret not having children. The TV mogul believes if she had kids her success would have made a negative impact on them.
She told The Hollywood Reporter: "If I had kids, my kids would hate me. They would have ended up on the equivalent of the Oprah show talking about me; because something [in my life] would have had to suffer and it would've probably been them."
At age 14, Winfrey
gave birth to a baby boy after years of sexual abuse. Her son died tragically a few weeks later.
In 2011, she opened up about her traumatic childhood, confessing: "Getting pregnant was a result of bad choices, not having boundaries, sexual abuse from the time I was nine, 10, 11, 12 and 13."

Winfrey added: "When the baby died, I knew that it was my second chance."
Winfrey, 59, also compared herself to BFF Gayle King while they were growing up together and how they had different aspirations. "Gayle was the kind of kid who, in seventh grade home ec class, was writing down her name and the names of her children. While she was having those kind of daydreams, I was having daydreams about how I could be Martin Luther King," she told HR.
