Nelson Mandela Death Rocks Royal Film Premiere in London

With British royals and Mandela's own daughter in attendance, the London premiere of "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom" was in full swing on Thursday when news broke that the South African icon died.

Prince William was informed of Mandela's death while the film was being screened at the Odeon Leicester Square, according to Richard Palmer, the royal reporter for London's Daily Express. And while William and Kate, the Duke and Dutchess of Cambridge, arrived at the event with smiles, they were seen leaving the event "ashen faced."

Prince William and Idris Elba in London on Thursday, presumably before news broke that Nelson Mandela died.

Idris Elba, who plays Mandela in the film, didn't address the crowd but issued a statement shortly afterward: “What an honor it was to step into the shoes of Nelson Mandela and portray a man who defied odds, broke down barriers, and championed human rights before the eyes of the world. My thoughts and prayers are with his family."

Beyonce Posts Bikini Photos From Her Recent Jamaican Holiday

 
Beyonce posted a series of bikini shots from her recent holiday in Jamaica and brought some heat to this chilly December.
The superstar songstress recently went away with her family for some R&R on the Caribbean island. She posted snapshots of the picturesque scenery, the local cuisine and their paddle-boarding adventures. She also posted photos of herself in some bikinis.
In the photos, Beyonce can be seen wearing a purple printed bikini with high-waist bottoms while lounging on the beach. In others, she rocks a metallic one-shouldered two-piece while she climbs a tree.
The 32-year-old stayed at the Trident Port Antonio Hotel, a luxury property featuring oceanfront villas, according to the Jamaica Observer. She was also spotted checking out the recording studios in Geejam.

In what may be the most fascinating wedding in Nigeria, adjudged to be the  first in Africa and listed to be the 251st  in the world by the officials of  the Guinness Book of World Records,  the two twin couples (Folawemi Taiwo Okunniyi and Chinonso Akinade Okueze, Febisola Kehinde Okunniyi and Chibuzor Adelakin Okueze) walked down the aisle on the same day, Saturday, November 30th, 2013 in Lagos.

Folawemi Taiwo Okunniyi and Febisola Kehinde Okunniyi are identical twin sisters from the same parents and they hail from Ondo State, and the grooms, Chinonso Akinade Okueze and Chibuzor Adelakin Okueze are also identical twins from the same parents from Asaba, Delta State.

Miracle; Baby Born 39 Days After Mom's Water Breaks

Gideon Marcus Whitchurch is now a healthy 6-month-old baby boy with doting parents. But to parents Rachel and Jeff Whitchurch he'll always be their miracle baby, born 39 days after his mother's water unexpectedly broke in the 28th week of pregnancy.
The Salt Lake City couple had already struggled to get pregnant again for five years and so they were overjoyed but cautiously optimistic about the pregnancy.
"After three miscarriages …. to finally have a child a baby that was doing well and made it past 20 weeks, we were thrilled," Rachel Whitchurch said.

Scientists Find Aggressive New HIV Strain

 Swedish scientists have identified a new strain of HIV that appears to progress much faster than most previously identified variations of the virus.

The new strain, known as A3/02, is a recombinant, meaning it is a cross between two previously identified HIV strains. Writing in the Journal of Infectious Diseases, Lund University researchers said that the infection moves from HIV to full-blown AIDS in about five years, nearly two- to two-and-a-half years faster than most previously known strains.

So far the new infection seems confined to West Africa. But experts fear that recombinant are becoming more common and could start to spread globally, especially to highly mobile regions such as Europe and the United States. The researchers said recombinant develop faster than the "parental" strains they spring from, though fortunately, this latest strain seems treatable with existing drugs.

ASUU Releases 14-Point Guideline on why the strike should continue

The Federal Government had yesterday shifted its ultimatum for the reopening of universities till Monday.
However, ASUU has restated its rejection of the ultimatum, issuing yesterday a 14-point guideline to its members on why they must sustain the strike, adding that government's claim that external forces were behind the union only betrays government's desperation to distract the union's genuine cause.
This was made known by the union in Strike Bulletin No. 14, signed by

ASUU National President Dr. Nasir Isa Fagge.
The union came up with 14 guidelines signaling that it is prepared for a long drawn battle with the Federal Government.
